If you live with wrinkles, facial folds, or acne scars, you may be considering the aesthetic measures you can take to get rid of them and have clearer, more youthful looking skin. Dermal fillers are a safe, nonsurgical, and effective way to take care of these unsightly facial features.
But with so many dermal fillers available, it’s hard to know which to choose. At Spa Blue, we’re proud to offer a collection of reputable, effective injectable dermal fillers. Among them is Bellafill®, the only dermal filler that is FDA-approved for use on acne scars.
What is Bellafill®?
Bellafill® is a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) based collagen injectable filler that is used to correct the nasolabial folds, as well as moderate to severe acne scars. In its second use, Bellafill ® is unparalleled – it is the only dermal filler on the market today that is FDA approved for correcting acne scars. With a 90% rate of patient satisfaction at 12 months and the possibility of your results lasting through 5 years, Bellafill® is a standout option among other dermal fillers.
How Does it Work?
Bellafill® is unique among other dermal fillers as it is made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and collagen. Bellafill® works in two phases: the first is an initial plumping and lifting, and the second is sustaining volume and lift.
When Bellafill® is first injected, the collagen within it quickly affects that area of injection, giving you beautiful results quickly. Over time, the PMMA microspheres in the injection form a matrix that supports additional collagen production. This collagen production can sustain your results for a staggeringly long period of time: through twelve months for acne scars and five years for nasolabial folds.
What Specific Areas Can Bellafill® Treat?
Bellafill® is used to correct two main aesthetic features: acne scars and nasolabial folds.
The following types of acne scars can be treated by Bellafill®:
- Icepick (narrow): These acne scars feature a deep and narrow pitting of the skin.
- Rolling (wide): Rolling acne scars are rounded and saucer-like in shape.
- Boxcar (narrow to wide): Boxcar shaped acne scars have sharp vertical edges with a wide base.
The results of Bellafill® injections to treat acne scars have been shown to last through 12 months.
As for the treatment of nasolabial folds, Bellafill ® is the only FDA-approved dermal filler that has been established as safe and effective for the correction of nasolabial folds through 5 years. If you’re tired of constantly receiving injections to lessen the appearance of your nasolabial folds, this is the injectable for you.
Am I a Good Candidate?
Candidates for Bellafill® must first undergo a skin test and be at least 21 years of age. If you have a history of allergic reactions to either lidocaine or bovine collagen, you will not be able to undergo Bellafill ® injections. Individuals with bleeding disorders or a propensity to thick scar formation may also not be able to receive Bellafill®.
